On August 4, 2026, The International Office of UIN Alauddin Makassar proudly congratulated two UIN Alauddin lecturers on their selection for the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ 2026 Visiting Professor/Visiting Scholars Program. The achievement reflected the university’s continued commitment to expanding global academic engagement and strengthening international collaboration.

The selected academics were Sukirman, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., Head of the Master’s Program in English Language Education at the Graduate School of UIN Alauddin Makassar, who was selected to undertake his academic program at Washington State University, United States, and Ir. Mutmainnah, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., a lecturer in the Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Alauddin Makassar, who was selected to participate in the program at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands.

The Visiting Professor/Visiting Scholars Program is one of the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ strategic initiatives to promote the internationalization of Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI). Through this program, participants engage in various academic activities at partner universities abroad, including collaborative research, guest lectures, international seminars, and joint scientific publications.

The two lecturers are scheduled to begin their academic visits at the end of 2026, with the program expected to run for approximately one month.

Expressing his gratitude, Sukirman described the opportunity as both an honor and a valuable chance to expand his international academic network.

“Alhamdulillah, I am truly grateful. Honestly, I did not expect to be selected for this program. This is a valuable opportunity to learn, establish academic collaborations with international researchers, and bring back valuable experiences and best practices that can later be implemented at UIN Alauddin Makassar,” he said.

The Head of the International Office of UIN Alauddin Makassar, Dr. Serliah Nur, S.Pd., M.Hum., M.Ed., extended her congratulations and expressed her pride in the achievement.

“We would like to congratulate Mr. Sukirman and Mrs. Mutmainnah on being selected for the 2026 Visiting Professor/Visiting Scholars Program. This achievement reflects the strong academic competence and global competitiveness of UIN Alauddin Makassar’s lecturers. We hope that more of our academics will take advantage of international mobility programs such as this, enabling the university to strengthen its global partnerships, enhance research excellence, and further elevate its international reputation,” she said.

The International Office reaffirmed its commitment to supporting UIN Alauddin Makassar’s internationalization agenda by facilitating global academic engagement, strengthening international research collaborations, and expanding strategic partnerships with leading universities worldwide. The Office also expressed its hope that the knowledge and experience gained through the program would contribute to the advancement of education, research, and community service while further strengthening UIN Alauddin Makassar’s position as a globally engaged and internationally competitive university.
