On August 7, 2026, an international student from Iraq, Hani Amer Musa Alaboodi, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation during a public promotion exam at the Postgraduate Building of UIN Alauddin Makassar.
Hani Amer Musa Alaboodi earned his doctorate degree under the Dirasah Islamiyah Program, specializing in Islamic Economics and the Halal Industry.
His academic defense was opened by Prof. Dr. H. Abustani Ilyas M Ag., as a Director of the Post Graduated of UIN Alauddin Makassar, and conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. H. Muslimin Kara, M.Ag. as Promoter, alongside Dr. Nasrullah Bin Sappa, Lc., M.M., and Dr. Sabbar Dahham Sabbar, Dip. Pub. Adm., M.B.A. as Co-Promoters.
The dissertation was evaluated by a board of examiners consisting of Prof. Dr. Rika Dwi Ayu Permatasari, S.E., M.Comm., Dr. Saiful Muchlis S.E., M. SA, AK., M. Si., Ak, CA., and Dr. Lince Bulutoding, M.Si., Ak., CA. Servicely representing external academic expertise, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rajafi, M.H.I., Rector of Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Manado, served as the external examiner.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Muhaimin, M.Th.I., M.Ed., Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy (who also served as the former Head of the International Office), Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Hum., M.Ed., the current Head of the International Office, alongside other international students of UIN Alauddin Makassar.
In his dissertation titled “Consumer Perception and Trust In Halal Certification Among Indonesia and Australia,” Hani examined the dynamics of consumer perception and trust regarding halal standards across two distinct socio-religious environments. The study concluded that halal certification serves not merely as an administrative label, but as a crucial instrument in building consumer trust, influenced by consumer awareness, certifying body credibility, and cultural-religious contexts.
Following the defense, the Head of the International Office of UIN Alauddin Makassar, Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Hum., M.Ed., extended her warmest congratulations to the new doctoral graduate.
