Makassar, September 24, 2026 — UIN Alauddin Makassar, represented by its International Office led by Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Hum., M.Ed., attended Rendez-Vous Rasa 2026 with the theme Discover Barongko, a traditional Bugis-Makassar banana delicacy, in a special culinary collaboration bringing together the gastronomic traditions of Makassar and France, the France–Indonesia Gastronomy Week, held at Anjungan Pantai Losari, Makassar, on Thursday, 24 September 2026.

The event was hosted by the Embassy of France in Indonesia, the Institut français d’Indonésie (IFI), and Alliance Française Makassar. It brought together French and Indonesian culinary traditions through a special collaboration between Chef Stéphane Carrade, a two-Michelin-starred chef from France, Chef Eko Hadiwijaya, and Chef Natalia Tanyadji, owner of Cafe Mama.

The three chefs presented a live cooking demonstration combining French culinary techniques with the rich flavors of Makassar cuisine. The event also featured a sailing trip on a Pinisi, the traditional boat of South Sulawesi, creating a unique setting for the celebration of French and Makassar culture.

The event highlighted gastronomy as a way to promote cultural exchange and strengthen the friendship between France and Indonesia. It also introduced Makassar’s culinary heritage to an international audience.

For UIN Alauddin Makassar, the invitation to Dr. Serliah Nur as Head of the International Office was an opportunity to take part in an international cultural event and connect with institutions working to strengthen France–Indonesia relations.

Rendez-Vous Rasa 2026 showed how food and culture can bring people from different backgrounds together. UIN Alauddin Makassar’s participation also reflected its role in building international connections and promoting the cultural identity of South Sulawesi.
