Makassar, July 23, 2026 – The Rector of UIN Alauddin Makassar, accompanied by the Head of the International Office, attended the Farewell Dinner held in honor of Mr. Todd Dias, the Australian Consul-General in Makassar. The event was hosted by the Australian Consulate-General at 31 Sudirman Suites, Hyatt Place Makassar, on Thursday, 23 July 2026.
The evening served as a tribute to Mr. Dias’ dedicated service during his tenure as Australian Consul-General while celebrating the enduring partnerships and friendships established between Australia and institutions across Eastern Indonesia, including UIN Alauddin Makassar.
The event was attended by the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Rod Brazier, Australian Consul-General Mr. Todd Dias, the Rector of UIN Alauddin Makassar, the Head of the University’s International Office, as well as university leaders, institutional partners, and distinguished guests.
The program began with a networking session during sunset, providing guests with the opportunity to strengthen professional connections. Attendees also participated in a commemorative video project titled “One Word for Our Consul-General,” sharing heartfelt messages and reflections to honor Mr. Dias’ contributions throughout his assignment in Makassar.
The evening continued with a buffet and barbecue dinner, followed by remarks from the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia. Guests also enjoyed a video presentation highlighting the Australian Consulate-General’s initiatives and achievements in Makassar, along with the special tribute video featuring messages from colleagues, partners, and friends of Mr. Dias.
In his farewell remarks, Mr. Todd Dias, who is widely recognized for his fluency in Bahasa Indonesia, expressed his sincere appreciation for the support, collaboration, and friendships he experienced during his time in Indonesia. The event concluded with a group photo session in a warm and convivial atmosphere.
The presence of the Rector and the Head of the International Office carried particular significance, as both are alumni of Australian universities. Their academic backgrounds and longstanding connections with Australian higher education institutions continue to strengthen the University’s engagement with partners across Australia.
For UIN Alauddin Makassar, collaboration with Australian institutions remains an important component of its internationalization strategy. Through academic partnerships, student and staff mobility, collaborative research, and capacity-building initiatives, the University continues to expand its global network while fostering meaningful cross-cultural and educational exchanges.
As a token of appreciation, UIN Alauddin Makassar presented a commemorative gift to Mr. Todd Dias in recognition of his valuable contribution to strengthening the relationship between Australia and the University.
