Makassar, April 8, 2026 – The International Office of UIN Alauddin Makassar, in collaboration with the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy, specifically the International Relations Study Program held a public lecture and information session on Australian scholarships at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy.
The event featured Dr. Alex Stephens from the Australian Consulate General in Makassar as a guest speaker, who provided insights into study opportunities and scholarship programs in Australia. The event aimed to provide accurate and relevant information regarding international education pathways, while also equipped students with strategies to prepare for the scholarship selection process.
For the first session was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Muhaemin, M.Th.I., M.Ed, who warmly welcomed the guest speaker and participants.
“On behalf of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy, I would like to warmly welcome our distinguished guest from the Australian Consulate General in Makassar, as well as all participants attending this event. We highly appreciated this opportunity to share knowledge and strengthen international academic collaboration,” he stated.
In his presentation, Dr. Stephens emphasized the importance of understanding the expectations of scholarship providers during the selection process.
He stated: “As a prospective student exchange participant, when attending a scholarship interview, it is important to understand that the interviewers are not solely focused on personal ambitions. They place greater emphasis on the contributions you can make. Therefore, it is important to provide well-thought-out answers and demonstrate the potential impact you can create.”
The event was attended by students from various academic programs who demonstrated high enthusiasm through active participation in discussions and questions regarding studying abroad, application procedures, and international academic experiences.
Through this activity, the International Office UIN Alauddin Makassar demonstrated its commitment to continuing to broaden students’ global perspectives and strengthen cooperation with international partners. It was hoped that this activity would serve as an initial step in encouraging students to aim higher, broaden their horizons, and take concrete steps toward pursuing education and careers on a global scale.
