Makassar, November 03ʳᵈ, 2025 — the International Office of Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar welcomed representatives from SOAS University of London in a strategic visit aimed at discussing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a Master’s Dual Degree Program between the two institutions.
The meeting took place at the International Office of Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar and was attended by the SOAS delegation, Professor Ayman Shihadeh, the Head of the International Office, Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Hum., M.Ed., the Head of the Magister Program of English Education Department, Dr. Sukirman S.Pd., M.Pd., PhD., and four postgraduate students from the Department of Dirasah Islamiyah.
During the session, both universities explored opportunities for academic collaboration with a focus on curriculum alignment, student mobility, English language requirements, and scholarship frameworks. The planned dual degree program was designed to provide students with the opportunity to complete part of their studies at Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar and part at SOAS University of London, and to obtain a degree from both institutions upon completion.
Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Hum., M.Ed., emphasized that this initiative marked a significant milestone in the university’s ongoing efforts to expand international collaboration and enhance global competitiveness. This partnership also reflected Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar’s continued commitment to promoting academic excellence, cross-cultural engagement, and international visibility in the field of Islamic higher education.
Through this visit, the International Office of Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar continued to play a strategic role in fostering institutional partnerships and global academic collaboration, aligning with the university’s vision to become a globally recognized Islamic higher education institution contributing to global civilization.
