Makassar – Wednesday, August 20, 2025, was a special day for Abdullah Taha, an international student from Iraq, who finished his studies at the State Islamic University (UIN) Alauddin Makassar. He presented his final project called “Regular Expression-Based Detection of Offensive Language and Cyberbullying” to a team of teachers.

Abdullah Taha studied Computer Science at the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Alauddin Makassar. His research looked at an important issue in today’s technology world: finding bad language and online bullying using computer programming methods. His final presentation happened on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Faculty of Science and Technology building, UIN Alauddin Makassar.

What makes his research special is that Abdullah presented in three languages: English, Indonesian, and Arabic. The final examination or munaqasyah was led by Dr. Ridwan A. Kambau, S.T., M.Kom., as the first supervisor and Darmatasia, S.Pd., M.Kom., assisting as the second supervisor. The examiners were Dr. Eng. Antamil, S.T., M.T. and Dr. Hj. Besse Ruhaya, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I.

In his presentation, Abdullah showed how his method can find offensive words, hate speech, and bullying behavior online in the English language. This research could help make the internet safer and more friendly for users around the world.

The supervisors and examiners were impressed with Abdullah’s work. “Congratulations to Abdullah. We are proud of what he achieved,” said one of the supervisors.
