Sydney, Australia – In early September 2024, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) at UIN Alauddin Makassar, The visit was led by Dr. Dewi Setiawati, Sp.OG., M.Kes, Dean of FKIK, She was accompanied by Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Hum., M.Ed., Head of the International Office, Nurdiyanah S, SKM, MPH,  Annisa Shofa Tsuraya, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Ani Auli Ilmi, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Sp.Kep.Kom,  to visit  leading teaching hospitals in Sydney: Canterbury Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital.

The visit aimed to learn about hospital management and explore collaboration opportunities for UIN Alauddin’s upcoming teaching hospital. At Canterbury Hospital, a 217-bed facility, the team observed its focus on maternity, geriatrics, and general medicine. They noted the hospital’s nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 and its strong emphasis on teamwork.

On September 9, 2024, the team visited RPA Hospital, a 1,200-bed facility and a key teaching hospital for the University of Sydney. Known for its research in areas like melanoma, breast cancer, and diabetes, RPA provided further insights into advanced hospital management.

This visit offered valuable knowledge for the development of UIN Alauddin’s hospital and highlighted the presence of Indonesian professionals working in these Australian institutions.
