Thursday, January 16, 2025 – Rector of UIN Alauddin Makassar, Prof. Hamdan Juhannis, hosted representatives from the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships (MNZS) to discuss postgraduate scholarship opportunities in New Zealand. The meeting was held in the Rector’s Meeting Room.

The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships, funded by the New Zealand International Development Cooperation Programme, aim to provide fully funded postgraduate scholarships for 2025. These scholarships focus on fields that support Indonesia’s development, such as Climate Change and Resilience and Good Governance.

Prof. Hamdan warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude for choosing UIN Alauddin as a partner in promoting this scholarship program. “Thank you for visiting UIN Alauddin. I hope we can collaborate in facilitating scholarships for our students to study abroad,” he said. He also shared his hope that this partnership would encourage UIN Alauddin students and alumni to pursue further education overseas.

Mieki Indriani, a representative from MNZS, explained the scope of the scholarship program. “The Manaaki scholarship is a fully funded program for professionals, academics, and the general public,” she said. She also emphasized that “there is a minimum quota of 45 recipients, and 75 percent of the total quota is allocated for applicants from eastern Indonesia.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the New Zealand Embassy Including Mrs. Mike Ingriani (Program Development Officer), Mrs. Naluri Bella (Education Manager) and Mrs. Hasrina  (Liason Office). Annisa Tambayun (the Manaaki Scholarship Officer) also participated in the discussion. From UIN Alauddin, Prof. Hamdan, the Head of the International Office, and the Cooperation Division team were present.

This meeting paves the way for UIN Alauddin students and alumni to access quality education in New Zealand and contribute to Indonesia’s progress in important areas of development.
