Bogor, October 23-25, 2024 – The Ministry of Religious Affairs, through the Directorate General of Islamic Education, is holding a vital workshop to strengthen international cooperation among Islamic higher education institutions (PTKI). The workshop, hosted at the Royal Padjadjaran Hotel in Bogor, brings together key representatives from PTKI institutions across Indonesia.
UIN Alauddin Makassar has taken a prominent role in this event, with Vice Rector of Collaboration & Development , Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Amri, Lc., M.Ag. and the Head of the International Office Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Hum., M.Ed.. During the workshop, Prof. Amri was invited by the head of the forum to share UIN Alauddin’s best practices in admitting foreign students. His insights have provided valuable input for other institutions looking to improve their international student management.
The workshop focuses on enhancing foreign cooperation and the management of international students. These discussions include the technical guidelines for the monitoring and evaluation of international partnerships and foreign student programs, ensuring sustainability and improving institutional transparency.
A crucial part of the discussions was based on the “Technical Guidelines for the Admission of Foreign Students in Islamic Higher Education Institutions.” These guidelines emphasize the role of globalization in opening opportunities for knowledge and cultural exchange. The guidelines also outline the importance of managing foreign student admissions, setting clear registration requirements, and ensuring that the management process is efficient and effective. This aligns with the broader goal of positioning Islamic higher education institutions as world-class universities, with over 10,000 foreign students currently studying in Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zainul Hamdi, M.Ag. , Director of PTKI, are leading discussions to enhance cooperation and governance within PTKI institutions, with actionable plans being formulated for future initiatives. Dr. Riska Puspita Sari, head of the sub-team for collaboration, is actively contributing to the discussions, helping to ensure that the frame works for international collaboration are comprehensive and aligned with national education goals.
The workshop fostering stronger international collaborations that will benefit not only the institutions involved but also the broader academic community. With these efforts, PTKI institutions are poised to strengthen their role in the global academic landscape while maintaining their core values and mission.
