UIN Alauddin Makassar is committed to becoming a World Class University (WCU). One strategic step to achieve this vision is by improving the English language proficiency of the university leadership. Mastering English will enhance their ability to communicate in international forums, access global academic literature, and foster international collaborations. Therefore, Dr. dr. Dewi Setiawati, Sp. OG., M.Kes., Dean of Medical and Health Sciences Faculty and Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Hum., M.Ed., the head of International Office participated in a short course capacity building for leaders program at Choice Business College (CBC) in Sydney, Australia.

The short course took place from September 3 to 12, 2024, focusing on the four key language skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Classes were conducted daily from 8:30 AM to 1:45 PM, with a Review Test held every Friday. At the end of the program, participants enjoyed an excursion to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, alongside attendees from other countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Colombia and Taiwan, who also took part in the activity.During the Study program, UIN Lecturers managed to complete some activities such as community service at Ashabul Kahfi Islamic Centre, exploring partnership with Gallipoli Home Service and visiting hospitals in Sydney.

Dr. Dewi Setiawati stated that with improved English language skills, the leadership is expected to contribute more actively on the international stage and strengthen UIN Alauddin’s position in the global education sphere.
