On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar (UINAM) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Cultural Center (ICC) Jakarta, represented by its Director, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sharifani. The signing took place at the rector meeting room, 3rd floor of rectorate building at campus 2 of UIN Alauddin Makassar, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to enhance academic exchange, research, and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.

The agreement outlines various forms of collaboration, including short courses in Islamic philosophy, joint research projects, seminars and academic conferences, collaborative publications, library resource development, and programs focused on Persian language and cultural studies.

In his remarks, Prof. Drs. Hamdan Juhannis, M.A., Ph.D., Rector of UIN Alauddin Makassar, emphasized the value of international partnerships as part of the university’s global orientation.

“This cooperation is not merely about exchanging programs or conducting joint research; it is a cultural bridge that enriches both our intellectual traditions. We believe collaborations like this can strengthen the position of Islamic higher education in the global academic arena,” he stated.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sharifani stated that his visit to UINAM aimed to explore potential avenues for academic cooperation, particularly in the fields of knowledge integration and Islamization—an area that has long been a focus of academic development in Iran. He welcomed UINAM’s proposals for academic meetings, visiting professor programs, and collaborative research and publication initiatives.

He also highlighted the significance of moral and intellectual solidarity from Indonesian scholars and university leaders toward Iran’s cultural resistance, noting its deep social and psychological meaning.

This collaboration reflects UINAM’s long-term vision to expand its global engagement and foster academic diplomacy as part of its mission to become an internationally recognized institution grounded in Islamic values.
