Makassar, November 1, 2024 — The Indonesian Language Training for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) III officially began today at Alauddin State Islamic University (UIN) Makassar, held in the meeting room of the Vice Rector IV at 9:30 WITA.
The program was opened by the Head of the International Office of UIN Alauddin Makassar, Dr. Serliah Nur, M.Pd., M.Ed., who shared her hopes for the training to serve as a bridge for international students in improving their Indonesian language skills. “This is the third BIPA program, and we hope it serves as a means for foreign students to learn the Indonesian language,” she stated.
The training was attended by a number of international students currently studying at UIN Alauddin Makassar across various departments, as well as students from the English Language Education Program who will later partner with international students in learning Indonesia. The presence of both local and international students reflects the spirit of cross-cultural collaboration and exchange.
Dra. Hamsiah Djafar, M.Hum., an Indonesian Language lecturer, is the trainer in this BIPA training. Known for her extensive experience in Indonesian language education, Dra. Hamsiah Djafar is expected to deliver effective and engaging instruction to help participants better understand the Indonesian language. She also encouraged international students to attend the weekly sessions diligently. “I hope you all attend this weekly activity regularly,” she said.
The BIPA training covers fundamental language skills, including speaking, reading, and writing in Indonesian. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to explore the uniqueness of Indonesian culture through a variety of interactive and educational activities.
